Arysta LifeScience recorded flat agrochemical sales in 2010, with revenues inching up by 0.9% to ¥102,830 million ($ million at the current rate). The increase was a more positive 6.5% at constant exchange rates (CER). Agrochemicals made up 91% of total sales of ¥113,000 million ($ million). Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) recorded agrochemical sales of ¥38,700 million ($490 million at the current rate) in the year ended March 31st 2011, down 8.7% on the previous year. The change reflected falling demand in overseas markets, as domestic sales were stable. Negative factors included adverse weather conditions, severe competition with generic products, and the strong yen, the company says. Syngenta’s crop protection sales rose by 14.4% to $2,844 million in the second quarter of 2011 compared with the same period last year. Sales were up by 9% at constant exchange rates (CER). Combined with the 11% growth in the first quarter (Agrow No 614, p 6), six-month crop protection revenues were up by 12.8% (10% at CER) to $5,634 million. First-half volume growth of 12% more than offset the 2% price reduction during the period.
